Funding Opportunity Purpose The purpose of this FOA is to support the development, adaptation, and pilot testing of implementation strategies to achieve system- level adoption of evidence-based interventions, guidelines, or practices to improve the delivery, qualify, and sustainability of prevention of treatment services for substance use disorders (in this case, the substance use to be considered is alcohol use) The proposal suggested: Projects that will test implementation strategies intended to achieve system-wide integration of evidence-based practices (interventions, guidelines, or service delivery models) to prevent or treat substance use disorders (broadly defined to include alcohol). Where appropriate, applicants may propose to test strategies that are designed to achieve system-wide de-implementation of programs or clinical practices that are ineffective unproven, wasteful, or harmful. So, at this stage you would want to research programs, guidelines and intervention methods that have helped with alcohol disorder. A complete background work on Alcohol abuse and what factors would cause this would also help. We want to have a complete picture of this problem and then start to look at implementing effective interventions or programs or guidelines and as suggested if there are any programs that are ineffective, we can suggest de-implementing them. This would be the first step. 1. For the methods we can choose from any of these 4 listed below: 2. Development and pilot testing of new and innovative strategies to facilitate large-scale implementation of evidence-based interventions, guidelines, or principles 3. System science approaches that use existing data sets to develop dynamic models of the effects of implementation within a system of care 4. Examining specific system or organizational factors that facilitate large scale implementation, to inform novel models or strategies for large-scale implementation, for example, decision making, financing for prevention and treatment services, staffing and training, and data systems, at multiple levels (e.g., state and local levels, across multiple systems) 5. Systems engineering approaches to support large-scale implementation of health information technology (HIT) tools to improve care coordination and continuity of substance use care within and across organizations and systems
