PART 1- In Frontline’s “American Voices: A Nation in Turmoil” documentary, there were three arguments being explored that can be applied to what is going on in America right now in 2022. Try to pick one of the general topics and narrow it down to a specific one. Here are the three arguments from the documentary and some current topical arguments to explore:
1). Coronavirus Lockdowns and the effects on the economy (look at 2022 and the effects the lockdowns/restrictions have had on our current economy with rising gas/food, etc)
2). Social Justice Protests (select any social protest from 2020 to now such as ME TOO, BLM, mask/vaccine mandates, Jan. 6th insurrection, gun control (Uvalde, Texas school shooting), supreme court’s overturning of Roe v Wade, Women’s equality protests in Afghanistan and Iran, war protests in Ukraine and Russia, etc.)
3). 2020 Election that divided America and the impact of it in 2022.
Questions to answer for PART 1:
a) Which of the topics stand out most to you?
b) What position or stance do you take on your chosen topic?
Please identify at least two points. Feel free to agree or disagree with one of these topics. (For example: What is your position (for or against) on the recent overturning of Roe v Wade? What two points that support your position?)
PART 2: What are some of the points that the opposition to your position make? Please identify at least two of their points.
